GIRGARRE FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB
GIRGARRE FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB
Girgarre Football Club was established in 1920 as a junior team and first made a senior team in 1932 in the Kyabram District Football Association. A netball side was added in 1978.
Our premierships unfortunately are few and far between, however we have been a key member of the KDA/KDL since the inception. Girgarre's first premiership was claimed in 1952, with many finals appearances in the following decade. In 1963, we valiantly fought Tallygaroopna in the Grand Final however were defeated; before winning another premiership in 1976. During the 1980's Girgarre qualified twice for the grand final, defeating Tallygaroopna in 1983, but losing to Avenel six years later. The Roos remained a force in the ensuing years, however it was 1991 when we had another grand final triumph over Lancaster.
